Shagufta Kiran was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in July 2021 from her home in Iqbal Town Islamabad for blasphemy. In September 2020, he allegedly shared offensive material in WhatsApp groups. Two of Kiran's sons were also arrested who were later released. Since their arrest, their family has shifted to an unknown location. Recently, Shagufta Kiran was transferred to Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. Shagufta Kiran was sentenced to death and a fine of three lakh rupees by the Special Court Islamabad on September 18. She was sentenced under Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and Penal Code 295-C. Shiraz Ahmed Farooqui filed a complaint against this Christian laday.
